What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your device. Each cookie is unique to your browser and contains anonymous, non-personal information.

How We Use Cookies

The Bright Sparks Junior School website (brightsparksjunior.ac.ug) is a school information website. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any analytics services that collect personal data. Cookies on this site come from two third-party services we embed for your convenience:

We also use localStorage (not a cookie, but a similar browser storage mechanism) to remember that you have acknowledged this cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every visit.

Counting Visits to Our Own Pages

So that we can see which pages are useful and improve the site, we keep a simple count of the pages opened on this website. This is run entirely by the school on its own systems — no advertising or analytics company is involved, and nothing is shared with anyone.

For each page opened we record only: the address of the page, the website you arrived from (if any), whether you are using a phone, tablet or computer, and a randomly generated number that links together the pages of a single visit. That random number is held in sessionStorage and is erased the moment you close the tab.

We do not record your name, your email address, your IP address, or anything else that could identify you, and this counting sets no cookies at all. If your browser is set to send a "Do Not Track" signal, we do not count your visit.

Third-Party Cookie Policies

Because some cookies are set by Google (a third party), their use is governed by Google's own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review them:

We do not have access to or control over cookies set by Google.

How to Control Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Below are links to instructions for the most popular browsers:

Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Google Maps embed on our website. Other content and features will continue to work normally.

Children's Privacy

Bright Sparks Junior School serves children from Kindergarten through Primary 7. This website is operated for parents, guardians, and prospective families — it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children through this website.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the services we use or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
